Who We Are

Efficient Effective Training

SB Skills Solutions Ltd are a national training provider delivering CPCS, NPORS, ITSSAR, Inhouse, NVQ and Health & Safety Courses to a wide range of industries. Our years of experience in training and our experienced instructors have enabled us to train and guide a range of clients from SMEs to blue chip companies and to individuals looking to enhance their operators skills. Our operator training programmes are supervised by our fully qualified trainers and testers, all of whom have industry experience, ensuring we provide you with unchallenged levels of expertise, skills, knowledge and professionalism.

Founder

I set up the company 25 years ago with my late wife, after a 23 year career in the army. As the company grew I recruited both of my sons, Paul and Neil who are both now directors of the company.

Neil started his career working within the Local Police authority but soon realized that this wasn’t the career path for him, so joined SB Training (UK) Ltd.  Two degrees later, including his BA Hons and MBA, Neil got the appetite for business and sought to grow the family business into what SB Skills Solutions Ltd is today.

I am one of the owners of SB Skills Solutions I have been in the industry for 25 plus years been with SB Skills Solutions for the last 23 years I am currently part of the CPCS training and testing team, NPORS training and testing team and also hold instructor licences for the forklift truck industry.
About Me:
My passion is to keep fit running and recently completed my first London marathon.

I am Stephen Maddocks and I have worked for SB for 11 years now in the role of IQA, Assessor and Tester though generally my role now is looking after the high end NVQs around the country.
About Me:
When I am not in work I have a wife Lisa and 6 children. But my real passion is Liverpool F.C. I am a season ticket holder and try to watch as many away games as I can, generally my holidays are watching Liverpool around Europe.

I have been with SB Skills for 6 & a half years. I started in administration in the bookings team creating FLT certificates and Licences, & over the years learned more about the construction side of things & moved into processing the NVQ’s. After returning from maternity leave in 2016, I became NVQ Centre manager & I look after all the induction, registration & achievement of our candidates on programme.
About Me:
I have worked in Administration for the past 10 years, in different types of industries including electrical and ship builders.
My spare time is mainly taken up by my 3 year old son. He keeps me very busy at weekends going on days out to various play centres, parks and farms etc. I love to cook and enjoy trying out new recipes on my family.

Before Joining SB Skills in April 2010 Chris Catterall was a Recruitment Consultant for 8 years. Chris has vast knowledge of the training industry and various awarding bodies. Chris has built up a good portfolio of clients and long term relationships. Chris will regularly go out his way to go over and above his job role to ensure client satisfaction.
About Me:
Chris likes to be active with the majority of sports including football, he also enjoys socialising with friends, but equally likes chilling out at night to a good drama series and spending time with his family and children.

25+ years in Sales and service primarily within the Equipment Hire Industry. Originally from Ashton in Makerfield I now live near Warrington. I have a 15 year old daughter called Nicola and a dog called Maggie who is spoiled rotten.
About Me:
Likes: Football, music and long walks with the dog especially during warm weather.
Dislikes: Dishonesty, Bullying & Wasps… Whats the point?

Ben joined the team in October 2018 having worked in the Training industry for the last 8 and a half years. Ben is now a Sales Support Coordinator, within the team, assisting Chris Catterall in sales. Duties include dealing with inbound calls, sending booking forms & joining instructions to clients, assisting our clients with any enquires & sending out course material.
About Me:
What I enjoy most about my job: Working towards and exceeding targets and challenges we receive on a daily basis.

Hobbies: Playing Sunday league football. Supporting Wigan Athletic up and down the country. Socialising with family and friends.

Callum started at SB Skills in March 2019. Since then he has begun learning daily, how to improve as a digital marketer. Callum’s responsibilities cover the entirety of SB Skills’ marketing which has been a large task for him to take on.

I was born in Germany BMH Munster. I was educated in a Private school Called Indefatigable in North Wales Anglesey.On leaving school I joined the Army and served for 22 years. Once I left the Army, I gained employment with SB Skills Solutions and became an assessor.
About Me:
When I gained employment with SB Skills Solutions, I was enrolled with Skelmersdale college and achieved my A1 Assessors award and teaching level 3.
I’m a single Dad with 3 children my Hobbies are snowboarding and Camping.

I am a Fully accredited NPORS / ITSSAR, instructor and a NVQ Assessor on various equipment. I am one of the Instructor/Assessors who has been with the company for 7 years. I have a heavy background in working within the warehouse industry and construction. I am friendly, approachable and will go the extra mile to help my candidates achieve their goals.
About Me:
I am also Adaptable to change and work well within the team and on my own.
I enjoy socializing, spending time with my family, taking holidays and now walking the newest member of the family Cyrus my Rhodesian Ridgeback.

I have recently achieved my level 3 A1 Assessor & joined the SB team as an assessor. I’ve worked in the telecoms & construction industry for over 39 years. I started work at 16 years old as an apprentice steel erector achieving various job roles as a slinger signaller, lift supervisor & mobile crane operator.
About Me:
After a near fatal motorcycle accident I had to move away from hands-on site work & retrained as an appointed person & a site manager working in telecoms, petro chems industry & structural steelwork.

I have a vast knowledge and experience in the job roles that I assess.

I currently assess:

Level 2 crane operators, slinger signallers and steel erectors
Level 3 ows and steel erectors
Level 4 crane lift supervisors
Level 5 appointed persons

I also present the 4 day novice slinger signaller training courses.

My current pastimes are building and riding motorcycles, coarse fishing and scale model building

I have been working with SB Skills Solutions since June 2017 working as part of the administration team providing admin support to all departments. I have gained 32 years administration experience working within various roles within construction and engineering management, service maintenance and within a software company.
About Me:
I am motivated, enthusiastic and flexible with good communication skills, I try to ensure effective relationships are established and maintained at all levels with colleagues, contractors and external business providers. I am very adaptable and friendly often under pressure and to deadline.

My most enjoyable moment of my career was while working at Marconi Software Solutions which I gained nine years’ experience working within different departments supporting analyst’s, team leaders, project managers and directors across the world. During my time here I joined the ladies seven a side football team for a laugh not thinking we could actually win, but with training and dedication put us through to the finals to qualify to go over to Dallas Texas to play against other work colleagues from places such as South Africa, America and Italy. We came to win the tournament, and had the opportunity to shake the famous Geoff Hurst’s hand when he handed over the trophy.

The business has grown quite considerably in the last 15 years from a small family business to now working with our admin team, sales, accounts, management and a bank of instructors and assessors…
About Me:
I have gained my 24 years admin experience from starting work at the age of 18 at Brett Martin Roofing Products in Burscough. I joined in the accounts department dealing with the Sales and Purchase Ledgers.

I am a motivated and enthusiastic person who tries to bring a smile to everyone’s face. I work with an amazing admin team which get on so well together.

Out of work most of my time is taken up by being a busy mum of 2 which involves taking my daughter to many of her dance competitions. I also like to keep myself fit with going to the gym and running, which I have just taken up.

I am the newest addition to the admin department and my amazing teammates have taken me under their wing and shown me the ropes. I have 11 years administration experience as well as a wealth of experience in the charity sector. In my previous employments I worked in various factories and offices and at one point I was a landlady in a Public house.
About Me:
After having my two children I retrained to become an administrator and this has been my occupation ever since.
I love working with SBSkills Solutions, no two days are ever the same. They are a great company to work for as they look after their employees and I would like to think we look after them right back!

I’m passionate about Martial arts which I’ve been doing for over 23 years, I am also a keen skier.
