Previously, one way that individuals could apply for their Black CSCS card was through industry accreditation (IA).
IA refers to obtaining references from employers or other competent individuals who can testify that the applicant was capable of working in a certain position.
However, following recommendations from the Construction Leadership Council, all IA CSCS cards issued from January 1, 2020 will expire on December 31, 2024.
Once these cards expire, they cannot be replaced using IA. Instead, previous IA Black CSCS cardholders will need to obtain a relevant qualification before they can renew.
For example, if you work in the construction industry as a site manager and obtained your Black CSCS card via IA. In that case, you may want to consider applying for an NVQ Level 6 in Construction Site Management.
