What is the NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Steel Erecting?
The NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Steel Erecting is a work-based, nationally recognised qualification suitable for those who specialise in steel erecting in their job.
The qualification can be completed on the job and does not involve any time out of work for training, making it a simple and convenient way for those working in steel erecting to have their skills formally recognised.
Who is this qualification for?
The aim of this qualification is to recognise the knowledge, skills and competence of individuals who specialise in steel erecting in the construction and engineering industries.
Completion of this qualification will lead to a Gold CSCS Advanced Craft card.
Candidates must complete all the Mandatory units; candidates may complete the Additional units, but this will not count towards the qualification.

What are the entry requirements?
This NVQ is suitable for those who are already working in a steel erecting role, usually in either the engineering or construction sector.
To be able to undertake this NVQ all delegates would be required to have an in-date Slinger Signaller Operators licence.
How long does it take to complete and what is involved?
The NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Steel Erecting can be carried out on the job. The qualification requires you to compile a portfolio or paperwork proof of your competence in the qualification’s criteria.
When you begin the qualification, you will be assigned an assessor who you can communicate with remotely regarding the qualification. They can provide you with help and support and will also visit you on-site to help with gathering all the required evidence.
The length of time that the qualification takes to complete can vary. Most people will finish within 6-12 months, but it depends on how much time you can commit to it and how quickly you are able to gather your evidence.
How is the NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Steel Erecting assessed?
There are no exams or coursework involved in this qualification. Your diploma will be assessed based on the portfolio of proof that you submit at the end.
Once you are satisfied that you have provided proof of your competence in each of the course’s units you can send it to be verified internally and then submitted. You will then either be declared ‘competent’ and awarded the qualification, or ‘not yet competent’, in which case you will need to review your portfolio again.
