This 360 excavator training course is relevant to those delegates using excavators in construction operations. SB Skills Solutions Ltd are able to provide this training from novices through to experienced operators.

The post Excavator 360 Degrees appeared first on SB Skills Solutions.

What is a 360° excavator?

A 360° excavator is a tracked excavator. It is heavy machinery that is used when there is little or no room for movement around the site. The digger head can be rotated in a full circle, thanks to the use of tracks rather than wheels.
While these vehicles are highly manoeuvrable, their power and heavy parts means that they also have the potential to cause accidents and injuries. It is important as a site owner that you provide a safe working environment.
This includes ensuring that all operators have had full 360 excavator training on the safe use of these and other excavators they will use.

Course Objective

The objective of 360 degrees excavator training is to ensure that operators know how to safely and effectively use the machinery: 360 Excavator – Below 10 tonne & Above 10 tonne. Excavators are large and, by their very nature, they have the potential to cause damage and injury.
Course participants will learn how to safely use the machinery and work towards receiving certification from the appropriate industry body.

The course will teach candidates Health and safety, pre-start checks, controls, dangers, safety on getting on and off and all activities required to be a 360 excavator operator. The 360 excavator training course is both theory and practical based training with a test/assessment.

Course Duration

The 360 excavator/digger course may take between 1-10 days depending on the experience level of the delegate. Typically, these are:

10 Day – Novice Course

2-5 Day – Experienced Worker Course (for those with no previous certification)

1 Day – Experienced Worker Tests / Refresher Course

Participant Requirements

It is essential that all delegates have a good working knowledge of written and verbal English, because the training we offer combines both theory and practical elements.

Who Should Attend?

360 excavators are versatile and useful machines used primarily in construction. The size and power of the machinery means that it has the potential to cause harm to employees, visitors, and other third parties, as well as cause expensive damage. 360 digger training ensures that the operators know how to safely use and maintain the machinery, therefore eliminating potential dangers and hazards.

Excavator training is essential for novices and experienced workers operating 360 excavators and diggers. Whether they use the excavator on a daily basis, or on an occasional basis, they need to know how to do so without putting people at risk. Supervisors and managers can also benefit from 360-degree Excavator training so that they can ensure work is completed in a safe manner.

What Will Participants Learn?

The 360-degree excavator training course in Lancashire includes both theory and practical elements. Delegates will be taught the latest legislation and regulations governing the use of this type of machinery, as well as a general overview of site safety.
They will be taught how to analyse the site and terrain to ensure that they use the proper machinery and attachments, how to operate the digger, and how to complete shutdown of the excavator.

Delegates will also be taught to safely change attachments and will learn how to prepare the excavator for taking it on the public highway.

Health and safety regulations and legislation before spending time on the machinery

How to conduct pre-start checks of the 360 machine prior to operating

How to operate the excavator safely

Understanding of roles and responsibilities when operating the machinery on site

Correctly mounting and dismounting the equipment

Operating the machine on varied ground , i.e. flat, rough and undulated

Going up and down slopes with correct operating

Learn how to define a hazard and where they are found i.e. underground apparatus and overhead cables

Excavations in varied ground types

Trench work and box excavations

Grading, levelling & spreading

Working with other plant when loading them with material and spoil

Change and operate ancillary equipment and attachments

Loading materials on various vehicles, hoppers, dumpers and wagons

Shut down procedures

Training Bodies

We offer training courses accredited by the following training bodies:

CPCS – The Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) is the biggest and most widely recognised body. Some companies require that their operators specifically have a CPCS card before employment. CPCS offers a competence card scheme. Initially, an operator will be awarded a red card. They can work towards receiving a red card within two years of receiving their blue card. We offer A58, A59, A59A and A59B CPCS excavator training at our training sites in Burscough, Ormskirk.

NPORS – The National Plant Operators Registration(NPORS) is a widely recognised card scheme across the Construction, Industrial, Utilities, Warehousing and Distribution, Agricultural, Ports and Marine sectors. The NPORS 360 Excavator – N202 course aims to provide the candidate with a thorough practical and theory training in operating 360 Degree Excavator in order to enable the candidate to pass the NPORS Theory and Practical Tests. Upon passing the tests, the operator will get an NPORS traditional operator card or if they have in date touch screen on completion they can opt in for the New NPORS CSCS logo card.

In-House – Our in-house training course for the 360 excavators follows the same training schedule, however if a client would like a bespoke option i.e with a particular attachment then this can be built into the course. The inhouse is still done by highly qualified NPORS and CPCS instructor is just at the end of the course you will gain a certificate of competency. The certificate is normally used for people who need to cover for insurance, competency and to use on own sites.

What is a Slinger Signaller?

The slinger signaller plays an important role in keeping construction sites, and other settings that use cranes and lifting equipment safe. The role of the slinger signaller is to communicate clearly with crane operators from ground level, giving them directions to help them lift and move their load safely and efficiently.

What is on the course?

The N402 NPORS/A40 CPCS Slinger Signaller training course teaches learners everything they need to know to work in a role as a slinger signaller.

The slinger/signaller must be able to direct the crane safely and efficiently, during loading and lifting operations, this is done by using special hand signals. These are standard signals, which follow BS 7121 code of practice for the safe use of cranes.

Health and Safety legislation covering safety signs and signals also includes essential hand signals for use on construction sites. The slinger signaller must make precise signals, which the crane operator can easily understand. Therefore, it is important that these signals are agreed upon with the crane operator before operations commence.

In certain weather conditions, where visibility is affected by heavy rain, fog or mist, then the slinger signaller may be able to use batons and high vis gloves as a substitute for hand signals.

Another alternative is the use of two-way radios, which are widely used. Radios are commonly used by Slinger Signallers that work with tower cranes where the line of sight is often lost.

Part of the slinger signaller’s role is having the authority to halt crane operations if they deem that the conditions are too hazardous to continue working.

Entry Requirements

Novices with no experience all the way up to experienced workers sit on the course.

For a novice operators’ course, each learner must have sat and passed the CITB Health & Safety Touch Screen Test.

Who should attend?

Candidates of all levels of ability and knowledge can attend our courses as we deliver full foundation training through to testing only. This course is for people with limited or no experience who want to learn how to operate a telehandler.

Certification

We offer training courses accredited by the following training bodies:

CPCS – The Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) is the biggest and most widely recognised body. Some companies require that their operators specifically have a CPCS card before employment. CPCS offers a competence card scheme. Initially, an operator will be awarded a red card. The A17c Telescopic Handler course CPCS will reward a red trained operator card on completion, enabling candidates to go on and undertake the relevant Level 2 Plant Operations NVQ to enable them to obtain a blue competence card.

NPORS – National Plant Operators Registration Scheme is a widely recognised accreditation specialising in the construction sector. On successful completion of the NPORS 010 Telescopic Handler course, delegates will receive a Red Competent Card which is valid for 2 years. In that time delegates will be required to complete the relevant Level 2 Plant Operations NVQ in order to update their card to a Blue Competency Card.

In-House – Our in-house training course for the Telescopic Handlers follows the same training schedule, however if a client would like a bespoke option i.e with a particular attachment then this can be built into the course. The inhouse is still done by highly qualified NPORS and CPCS instructor is just at the end of the course you will gain a certificate of competency. The certificate is normally used for people who need to cover for insurance, competency and to use on own sites.

Further Development

The awarding body recommends that refreshers are taken regularly, to make sure that all operators are working to correcting standards and to correct any bad habits the operator may have picked up over the duration of the cards.
The post Telescopic Handler Training appeared first on SB Skills Solutions.

ADT training is an important health and safety requirement for dumper truck operators. Any employee that uses these vehicles on a regular basis should take the course, while supervisors and managers that may need to supervise or even take over the operation of these machines should also enrol. We can offer training to individuals from your organisation, as well as to groups.

What Will Participants Learn?

It is important that operators learn how their machinery and their working processes fit into the overall safety of a site. As such, an overall understanding of construction safety will be taught. Candidates will be taught how to assess the safety requirements of a site, how to conduct pre-checks of the machinery, and how to safely operate the dumper truck. They will also receive training on the safe shutdown and storage of the dump truck.

The risks of using quick hitch devices, and how to safely use them

Current safety regulations governing dump truck use

How to operate the machine to a minimum standard

Fitting and operating ancillary equipment

Siting the machine safely and efficiently

Carrying out minor adjustments and routine servicing procedures

Preparing the machine for travelling on the public highway

The capabilities of each machine, its purpose and limitations

All safety precautions necessary for the correct operation of the machine

How diesel engines work and how various parts of the machine operate

Which routine adjustments and servicing procedures are necessary, and how to carry them out

Course Accreditation

We offer loader compressor training from the following boards:

CPCS – The Construction Plant Competence Scheme is the most widely recognised accreditation scheme in the construction industry. Many organisations require that operators have CPCS cards, as part of their company policies. The A56 Rear Tip Dump Truck course from CPCS will reward a red trained operator card on completion, enabling candidates to go on and undertake the relevant Level 2 Plant Operations NVQ to enable them to obtain a blue competence card.

NPORS – National Plant Operators Registration Scheme is a widely recognised accreditation specialising in the construction sector. On successful completion of the course, delegates will receive a Red Competent Card which is valid for 2 years. In that time delegates will be required to complete the relevant Level 2 Plant Operations NVQ in order to update their card to a Blue Competency Card.

In-House – If you need to provide additional safety elements to your employees, we can customise a training course to include all the elements and components that you require.

A loader securer is used to load and secure materials and items on trailers. It is estimated that more than 1,200 people a year are injured by loads that were not secured properly, while injuries can also occur during the loading process, including loaders and other personnel falling from the back of the lorry. Such accidents can cause injuries as well as result in the loss or damage of property.

Only through the proper use of a loader securer can your company be sure that goods will not be damaged and people will not be injured. As an employer, it is your responsibility to ensure the safety of a site. This means providing equipment that is well maintained, offering safety equipment to your employees, and it also means that you need to offer safety training to your employees.

Loader securer training initially gives delegates an understanding of health and safety laws, and how they fit into the process of providing a secure environment. It also teaches everything from required pre-use checks to the safe shutting down of the machinery at the end of a shift, and how to conduct routine and simple maintenance to ensure the ongoing safety of the machine.

SB Skills Solutions Ltd is a leading provider of health and safety training to the construction, engineering, manufacturing, and other industries. We offer loader securer safety training accredited by CPCS, and we can tailor any of our courses to meet the exact requirements of participants and employers. Browse the courses we offer online or call us with any questions or queries you have.

Participant Requirements

The loader securer training courses includes theory and practical elements. As such, all candidates must possess a good working standard of both written and verbal English communication. Furthermore, all candidates must have successfully completed the Construction Skills Health and Safety Course touch screen test to show basic understanding of on-site health and safety.

Who Should Take Loader Securer Training?

Any employee that will be operating a loader securer should have proper safety training to ensure that they can safely operate the heavy machinery while on-site and on the public highway. Managers and supervisors can also take the training.

Course Objectives

The aim of the loader securer course is to ensure that participants can safely and efficiently operate loader securer machinery. Participants will learn the operations of the vehicle, as well as how to identify and mitigate hazards on-site. Candidates work towards certification from the relevant accreditation body. In the case of the A49 or A50 loader secure training courses from CPCS, the delegate will also receive their red competence card.

We offer both A49 and A50 loader securer CPCS courses. The A49/A50 loader securer course from CPCS will reward a red trained operator card on completion, enabling candidates to go on and undertake the relevant Level 2 Plant Operations NVQ to enable them to obtain a blue competence card.

NPORS – National Plant Operators Registration Scheme is a widely recognised accredited board and is an alternative to CPCS but is widely accepted on all major UK construction sites. On successful completion of the course, delegates will receive a Red Competent Card which is valid for 2 years. In that time delegates will be required to complete the relevant Level 2 Plant Operations NVQ in order to update their card to a Blue Competency Card.
